A biography, sometimes known as a bio, is a thorough account of a person’s life. It illustrates a person’s experience of major life events rather than merely reiterating basic information about relationships, education, employment, and death.

What is Biography?

A biography, as opposed to a profile or curriculum vitae (résumé), tells the story of the subject, highlighting personal experiences and other life events. It may also include a personality analysis of the subject.

Although biographical writings are often non-fiction, a person’s life can also be portrayed in fiction. Legacy writing is a type of in-depth biographical reporting. Works in a variety of mediums, including film and literature, comprise the genre known as biography.

Biographical Research

Miller defines biographical research as a method of conducting in-depth, unstructured interviews to gather and assess a subject’s entire life, or a section of it, occasionally supplemented with semi-structured interviews or personal materials. It’s a method of looking at social life in terms of processes rather than things that are fixed.

“Oral history, personal narrative, biography, and autobiography” as well as “diaries, letters, memoranda, and other materials” are possible sources of the information. Producing detailed portraits of individuals “conceptualising structural types of actions,” or “understanding the action logics or how persons and structures are interlinked,” is the primary goal of biographical study.[26] This approach can be used to comprehend cultural phenomena or a person’s life concerning their social environment.
